RAHA to set up solid waste management unit in Swabi

PESHAWAR: The Refugees Affected Hosting Areas (RAHA-UNDP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Programme, funded by European Union (EU), signed an agreement with the Swabi district administration to establish a solid waste management system in Khas Union Council.Raha

The initiative was taken under the patronage of Deputy Commissioner Swabi Kamran Afridi with financial support of  European Union (EU) funded Programme i-e RAHA KP, aimed at to remove the solid waste disposal, Union Council Khas, Swabi, as per identified needs and demand of local communities. The solid waste system would be completed under the joint agreement of district administration and RAHA-UNDP KP, within one month.

This tripartite intiative of Distt Government Swabi, Local communities of Swabi Khas & RAHA Programme KP include construction of 08 no’s solid waste disposal enclosures,1 mini dumper, necessary tools & equipments including hand carts, spadle, shoes, jackets and visibility  costing PKR 23,49808 in which RAHA contributed 22,32,318/- CMO Swabi contributed 117,490/- in cash ,land contribution of worth 2.8 million and PKR 187985/-   as annual recurrence cost ,PKR 15665/- per month.

The Deputy Commissioner Swabi, Karman Afridi appreciated the RAHA-UNDP KP for establishment of solid waste management system as per demand of local administration and local communities. He assured that the district government would extend full support in effective implementation, operation & maintainence of the project.

On the occasion, RAHA-UNDP KP, Provincial Programme Manager, Ms Shukriya Syed assured the officials of district administration for every possible support for fulfillment needs as per demands of local communities in the UC Khas, Swabi.
