TAKHTBHAI: A non-government social welfare organisation, Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI) on Tuesday, distributed non-food relief items among 259 underprivileged families in Takhtbhai tehsil in Mardan district.
The relief items including sweaters, gloves, woolen shawls, caps and cloths for children were distributed in an event arranged at Mian Essa village in Takhtbhai tehsil. The ceremony was arranged by the local office bearers of PEI that had also identified the recipients. A total of 1600 individuals of (259 families) were given the relief items in the ceremony.
Awami National Party Member of the National Assembly Himayat Ullah Mayar was chief guest at the event where local elders, social workers and people from all segment of the society were also present. Himayat Ullah Mayar along with PEI Associate Programme Officer Fazli Elahi distributed the relief goods among the beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Himayat Ullah Mayar paid rich tributes to PEI struggle for eradication of poverty and extending help of the poor and needy families, particularly women and children.
